About the event
AFVAC le Congrès is the annual congress of AFVAC, the French association of companion animal vets. In 2026 it runs from Thursday to Saturday, 26 to 28 November, at Lille Grand Palais.
The theme is Vous avez dit consensus…, roughly Did you say consensus? The chair of the scientific committee, Christelle Maurey, explains that agreement is at the heart of clinical work: science is not only individual discoveries but also shared debate and building accords.
According to Maurey, the programme is not merely a list of agreed practices. It also covers areas where there is no scientific consensus yet. Making decisions under uncertainty often causes professional discomfort, especially for young clinicians, and that is exactly why the organisers want to talk openly about these gaps.
Besides lectures, the congress includes hands-on workshops and meetings with colleagues. It is aimed at vets who work with companion animals.
The topic will be familiar to clinics everywhere: a treatment decision often has to be made even though the evidence is incomplete or recommendations differ. That is why the programme may also interest colleagues from abroad.
