About the event
Crufts takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 4 to 7 March 2027. The show is run by the UK's kennel club, The Royal Kennel Club, which promotes it as The World's Greatest Dog Show. Dogs usually have to qualify in advance, and qualifying for the 2027 show is already under way.
The climax is Best in Show. But Crufts is much more than judging pedigree dogs. According to the organiser, the programme offers top-level competitions, dog sports and over 500 trade stands. In the Discover Dogs area you can meet over 200 breeds and ask owners and breeders directly what life with a breed is like. It is a good place if you have not yet settled on a breed.
The programme also includes the Hero Dog Award, which highlights special stories of people and dogs. Scruffts is a competition for crossbreeds that puts the focus on fun and responsible ownership. Young people compete in the Young Royal Kennel Club's own events, breeders bring together groups of dogs they have bred, and groomers compete in the Crufts Dog Grooming Competition.
Tickets for 2027 go on sale later. The organiser promises to announce the start of sales in its newsletter. Crufts can also be followed online, as the organiser's YouTube channel has live streams and a large video archive. That is a good alternative if a trip to England does not fit your plans.
