About the event

World Dog Show 2027 takes place at the Tulln exhibition centre in Austria from 27 to 30 May. The host is the Austrian kennel club ÖKV, and the show is the main event of the year for the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). Tulln is not new to the world show, which was also held there in 1986. The town is about 30 kilometres from Vienna.

The main show is preceded on Wednesday 26 May by the CACIB Austrian Winner show, open to all breeds. On Saturday 29 May there is also the Austrian World Cup for breeds the FCI does not recognise. A junior handling competition is promised, and a detailed programme will be published when it is ready.

Exhibitors should read up on Austrian law. Docking tails and cropping ears is banned under the animal protection act, and importing and trading docked or cropped dogs is also banned in Austria. A dog with trimmed whiskers may be shown only if a vet's certificate proves the reason was neither commercial nor aesthetic. All dogs are checked by a vet before entering the grounds. Prong collars, electric collars and choke collars are banned.

No individual breeds are banned. The organiser says the same rules apply to short-nosed and hairless breeds as to others, and the assessment is always of the individual dog. In unclear cases, the organiser advises contacting ÖKV directly. You cannot enter on site. Entries open later on the organiser's website. The show is also open to families and visitors without a dog.

How to get there

The exhibition centre's address is Messegelände, A-3430 Tulln an der Donau. It is about 30 kilometres from Vienna and about 55 kilometres, or about 45 minutes, from Vienna airport. Tulln and Tullnerfeld railway stations have direct trains to Vienna, St. Pölten and Salzburg.

Drivers have over 7,000 free parking spaces and over 400 spaces for motorhomes, and there are campsites nearby. Important information is given at least in German and English. If your dog crosses a border with you, within the EU it needs a microchip, an EU pet passport and a valid rabies vaccination. Rules differ for travellers from outside the EU, so check the current requirements with your national authority well before you travel.
